“My 5 yr old daughter, Chloe, is one of Mary's art students and I cannot believe the beautiful work she creates and comes home with.  This art class has opened Chloe's eyes and vocabulary to art in the world around us.  Mary's unassuming instruction has definitely helped Chloe's confidence in her work and "artist" is now part of her "self".  Thank you Mary!!” – Carrie

Why Should Art Be Taught to Children?

“We need to teach art to young children because it is an integral part of our lives.  Visual art is often seen as a pleasant pastime-something to do when the work of the day is over, objects to view in a museum, or an activity done by a few individuals for personal pleasure or fame.  But if we truly understand what visual art is, we will suddenly discover how deeply it affects us.” – Koster

Our traditional school-year program (Sept. – May) focuses on creating original works of art.  Students learn the terminology used in the world of fine art making through an interactive method and explore various mediums, including clay.   Projects are age appropriate, fun and develop each student’s observation skills and confidence in making creative decisions.  Each child works in a small group setting and is encouraged to develop their own “style”.  Each month or two we explore a different art medium.
